Pelican Woods Cemetery & Nature Trail

Pelican Woods Cemetery and Nature Trail is the newest cemetery in Crow Wing County, and possibly in the State of Minnesota. It is located at 8676 Ski Chalet Drive, one block west of County Road 11, in the City of Breezy Point.

A Natural Resting Place

Pelican Woods Cemetery and Nature Trail is thoughtfully designed as a final resting place for those who love the woods and lakes of the Breezy Point area. The cemetery blends natural beauty with peaceful reflection, offering a serene environment surrounded by forested landscape and rolling terrain.

When fully completed, the cemetery will include approximately 1,000 burial lots, accommodating both traditional burials and cremation inurnments. Features include:

  • Rich forest setting

  • Rolling terrain

  • Beautiful flower gardens

  • Nature trail for reflection and meditation


Community & Availability

Pelican Woods serves both year-round residents and those who have long enjoyed the Breezy Point area as a vacation or seasonal destination. Cemetery lots are available for purchase to all interested individuals.

The cemetery is operated under the direction of a 5–7 member Breezy Point Cemetery Commission, authorized by the Breezy Point City Council.


Development Phases & Features

Phases One and Two include 599 burial lots and feature:

  • Extensive landscaping and abundant flowers

  • Paved internal roadways

  • Ground-level (flush) markers to maintain a park-like setting

Additional enhancements include:

  • A calming water feature, completed in Fall 2007, near the shelter area

  • A natural berm constructed in 2010 at the entrance to provide added privacy from the roadway


Memorials & Cremation Options

  • The All Veterans Memorial, designed by local artist Jeff Kreitz, was dedicated on June 15, 2013.

  • A 60-niche columbarium was installed on October 15, 2014, located across from the shelter area in Phase II.

    • Each niche accommodates up to two urns

    • Cost includes opening and closing for inurnment, niche plaque and inscription, and perpetual care
