2026 Street Improvement Project

The proposed 2026 Street Improvement project area includes:

  • Full reconstruction: Blue Bird  Lane
  • Full reconstruction: Piney Way
  • Overlay: Wren Drive

 


Construction Schedule

Below is the proposed schedule (the timeline for this project is subject to change:) 

  • Week of July 6 – Erosion control, clearing/grubbing, and excavation
  • Week of July 13 – Curb and gutter installation, driveway concrete work, and milling
  • Week of July 20 – Road paving
  • Week of July 27 - Seed and Restoration

Important Information

  • Ideal Construction is the project's contractor.
  • Construction hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Temporary mailboxes will be provided during construction.
  • The schedule is tentative and may change due to weather or other factors.

What Residents Need to Do

  • Remove any personal property located within the public right-of-way by July 4, 2026.

Property Owner Information

The City of Breezy Point will be sending out information to property owners following the pre-construction meeting scheduled for early June.

  • Delays, dust, and noise should be expected
  • Access to properties will be maintained, minor delays should be expected
  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained
  • Entrances and driveways in the FDR area are scheduled to be replaced to the right-of-way line
  • Driveway replacement will create a construction joint in the bituminous pavement, we recommend the property owner seal this yearly
  • Mailbox supports will be replaced with swing-away style supports
  • Property owners are responsible for relocating private items located in the right-of-way
  • The City will not be responsible for damage to private items located in the right-of-way

 


Project Updates

 

April 30, 2026

The City Council held an assessment hearing for the proposed assessments. A final assessment roll was adopted (can be seen in the attachment below.) Additionally, the Council approved a notice of award to Ideal Construction, as they were the lowest responsible bidder. Construction is anticipated to kick off in June and be completed by the end of summer! The City will provide updates to the residents on this page as necessary. 

April 6, 2026

The City Council Declared Cost to be Assessed, Ordered Preparation of Proposed Assessment, and Called for the Hearing on the 2026 Street Improvement Projects for April 30, 2026 at 6:30p.m. Residents impacted by theh project will be send mailed notice of the hearing and it will also be published in the paper. The notice can be seen below. 

March 2, 2026

The City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized advertisement for bids on the 2026 street improvement project. The project will be bid for at least 21 days. 

January 5, 2026

The City held three public hearings on January 5, 2025 for each of the street improvement projects. At the City Council meeting on January 5th, the Council approved Ordering the Improvements and Authorizing Preparation of Plans and Specifications and the proposal for design and contract administration. The engineers will enter into the design phase, which should be completed by Spring. The Council will then approve the plans and specifications. Residents will be notified as this project progresses. 

December 15, 2025

The City held an information meeting to review the proposed improvements with property owners on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 5:00PM, to receive feedback and if needed, amend the Feasibility Report before holding the improvement hearing and beginning final design this winter. The meeting will include a brief presentation of the proposed improvements for each project location and will open for questions or general discussion for the time allotted. The project is proposed to be designed and bid this winter with construction occurring next summer. 

 

December 2, 2025

At the City Council meeting on December 1, 2025, the City Council approved the Feasibility Report and called for an Improvement Hearing. 

The improvement hearing will be held on January 5, 2026 at the following times:

  • 5:00 p.m.- Bluebird Lane Improvement Hearing
  • 5:30 p.m.- Piney Way Improvement Hearing
  • 6:00 p.m.- Wren Drive Improvement Hearing

Proper notice will be sent to residents and published in the paper. 


October 7, 2025

At the City Council meeting on October 6, 2025, the City Council ordered the preparation of a feasibility report and approved the engineering contract for a feasibility study on the project areas.
