Chief Brian Sandell graduated from Alexandria Technical College in 1994 and began his career with the Pine River Police Department in March 1995. He also worked part-time for the Akeley Police Department before accepting a position with the Pequot Lakes Police Department in 1997. He came to the Breezy Point Police Department in May 1999 and was promoted to Sergeant on January 2010. He is an armed intruder instructor and a certified firearms instructor. He became Chief of Police on June 6, 2021.
