Promoted in January 2022, Sergeant Joe Garcia was originally hired as a part-time officer in December of 2004, then full-time in February 2005. Originally from Michigan, Sergeant Garcia is a veteran of the United States armed forces having served a four-year enlistment in the US Air Force and served as a commissioned officer in the Minnesota Army National Guard. Prior to joining the Breezy Point Police Department served the Brainerd Lakes Area as a paramedic with North Memorial Ambulance Service. Sergeant Garcia is one of the BPPD’s paramedic officers and can deliver advanced emergency medical care to the residents and visitors of the City. Throughout Sergeant Garcia’s career, he has had the opportunity to serve as a member of the Crow Wing County Tactical Team and the Crow Wing County Dive Rescue Team. Sergeant Garcia has earned his bachelor degree in criminal justice leadership from Rasmussen University and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in emergency management from Jacksonville State University.
